Connie Custer Custer Communications

Constance Custer, owner of Custer Communications, has 35 years of communications experience, serving in the Air Force as a public affairs officer, then as a communicator in small and large private-sector businesses and non-profits.

As the chief of Air Force Media Training, she helped hundreds of senior leaders craft compelling messages, then deliver them to national and international broadcast and print media. She expanded her expertise in this area after retiring, working for two years in a small business in D.C. training executives for presentations, media engagements, and crisis communications.

She honed her national security expertise working for two large defense contractors, Boeing and SAIC, the last as vice president of External Communications. She then became vice president of Communications and Public Affairs for a not-for-profit federally funded research and development center, CNA.

In each assignment, Connie worked primarily with technical professionals, helping them translate their work into publicly consumable, interesting information to share with the nontechnical world. Engineers, lawyers, medical doctors, researchers, and rocket scientists have benefitted from her communications knowledge and expert coaching skills.
